High security commission in Kurdistan to secure elections

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) on Wednesday agreed with the Kurdish interior ministry to form a high security commission to put a plan to secure the Kurdistan’s parliamentary elections. This came during a meeting between the Kurdish interior minister and a representative of the IHEC in Arbil, according to a statement of the IHEC on Wednesday. “The meeting tackled also security plans to support the electoral process during the modernization of the voter registry,” it added. The parliamentary elections in Kurdistan will begin on July 25. Meanwhile, the Independent High Electoral Commission in Kurdistan had said on Tuesday (May 19) that 25 lists, including five alliances, will take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
