IIP to file lawsuit against BOC following Qaeda leader confessions

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi Islamic Party (IIP) member on Tuesday said that it would file a lawsuit against Baghdad’s Operation Command (BOC) over claims of alleged links between the party and al-Qaeda organization, calling on the command to reveal those involved. “The Islamic party will file a lawsuit against BOC unless the command reveals those who are said to have links to al-Qaeda,” MP Saleem al-Jabouri told IraqiNews.com news agency. Today, the parliamentary security and defense committee summoned the spokesperson for the command, Qassem Atta, to elaborate on issues that were raised during confessions by Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, Jabouri noted. Jabouri denied links between al-Qaeda organization and his party, which he said has been a target for al-Qaeda. During a press conference broadcasted yesterday by a number of TV channels, Maj. Gen Atta said that the head of the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq’, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, had confessed to having links with the IIP.
