Iran pressurizes to prevent withdrawing confidence from Maliki, says Naji
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The spokesperson of the Ahrar Bloc MP Mushriq Naji assured that “The leader of the Sadr Trend Muqtada al-Sadr headed to Iran due to an invitation from the Iranian side to hold meetings over withdrawing confidence from Maliki,” noting that “The Iranian side pressurize on blocs within and outside the Iraqi National Alliance to prevent withdrawing confidence from Premier Nouri al-Maliki.”
In a statement to the Iraqi News, he said Wednesday “Al-Sadr assured during several meetings held with the Iranian side that the decision of withdrawing confidence from Maliki is constitutional resolution.”
He clarified that “The Iranian side also is attempting to convince Maliki to implement conditions of Erbil agreement.”
“The Sadr Trend aims to conduct reformations and believes that in case the reformations were implemented they will save the country, or else withdrawing confidence from the government will be the last settlement,” MP Naji confirmed.
Concerning the number of signatures and forming a committee to verify these signatures, he said “The number of the signatures submitted to Talabani reached more than 163, but forming a committee to verify these signatures is unnecessary and this procedure adopted by the President aims to gain time before delivering the request to Parliament.”
