Iraq seeks reaching solution for Syrian crisis under umbrella of Arab League
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Policy Planning and Bilateral Relations, Labid Abbawi, received the French Ambassador to Iraq, Deny Gauer, who discussed “The circumstances in Syria and his country’s support to the Syrian people’s aspirations to democracy and freedom.”
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited “Abbawi stressed, during the meeting, that the latest developments in Syria are of concern, especially after the recent events that claimed the lives of many civilians and the occurrence of armed clashes, reiterating that Iraq is seeking, under the umbrella of the Arab League, to unify the efforts and coordinate the stances to find proper solutions for the political status in Syria in order to halt the violence and support the Syrian people’s aspirations to democracy and stability.”
“The meeting was concluded by tackling the bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two friendly countries and means to promote and enhance these relations in different aspects,” the statement concluded.
