Iraq snatched part of U.S. president’s authorities – researcher
Iraq-Iran BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi political analyst on Monday warned that Iraq should not miss the opportunity to sign the proposed security pact with the U.S. before the imminent presidential elections in America, explaining that the Iraqi negotiators were able to snatch some of the U.S. president’s authorities, and for the first time in history. “Achieving an advanced security pact like this one between Iraq and the U.S. is attributed to the Iraqi negotiator that was able to achieve a draft through which the U.S. offered concessions that it did not offer to more than 80 other polities that it had held treaties with them,” Ibrahim al-Somaidaee told IraqiNews.com. “The final draft of the pact embraces important points that Iraq has got from the U.S. side,” he said. “For the first time in the history of the U.S., President George W. Bush agreed to give up his authorities of commanding the U.S. army in Iraq to the Iraqi-U.S. combined committees, and this is an exceptional case that cannot be repeated,” he added. “No matter who would be in the White House after the coming U.S. presidential elections, neither Obama nor McCain will accept this issue,” he noted.
