Iraq to co-chair AIPU meeting

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Sheikh Khaled Atiya on Wednesday said that Iraq will co-chair the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union’s (AIPU) meeting, scheduled to take place in Lebanon, together with Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri. The announcement was made following Berri’s reception of Atiya earlier today. “The meeting aims to tackle means of combating the brutal Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and of uniting Arabs and the Palestinians..,” Atiya said. The meeting will take place in the Lebanese city of Sour. The AIPU is an Arab parliamentary organization composed of parliamentary groups representing Arab Parliaments. SS (P) 1
