Iraq urges Switzerland to open embassy in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Deputy Foreign Minister Labid al-Abbawi on Monday called on Switzerland to open its embassy in Baghdad after the recent improvement in the security situation, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry. “The Iraqi official urges the Swiss ambassador to open the embassy in Baghdad which will boost bilateral relations between the two countries,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The meeting tackled means of bolstering bilateral ties in various domains,” it added. For his part, the Swiss diplomat expressed his country’s desire to develop relations with Iraq and to encourage investments. SH (P)/SR 1
