Iraqi Communist Party Leader says his party’s ambitions were not achieved, despite downfall of dictatorial regime.
BASRA / IraqiNews.com – Member of the Central Committee of the Iraqi Communist Party (ICP) has said on Saturday that his party’s ambitions “were not achieved, despite that 7 years have passed on the downfall of the dictatorial regime in Iraq .” ICP’s Central Committee Member, Qassim Hannoun, speaking to IraqiNews.com news agency on the occasion of the 77 th anniversary of the Party’s establishment, said: “Our Party had been fighting, since its establishment in 1934 and till this date for independence, freedom democracy, equality and social justice.” “But, until this day, and despite that 7 years have passed on the downfall of the dictatorship, none of the ambitions of our popular masses for change, but for few, have been achieved, as there are still a lot of pending issues waiting for solution,” Hannoun said. He said the ICP “shall strive, through cooperation with all other forces, including the national, democratic and political parties, to put an end to the loopholes and shortages, especially the sharing of narrow-party positions, along with striving to deepen the democracy and to protect rights and freedoms.” The Iraqi Communist Party was established on March 31, 1934, by its Founder Yousif Salman, carrying the party name “Fahad,” being one of the oldest political parties in Iraq .
