Iraqi honorary consul to represent Denmark in Kurdistan
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Danish embassy in Baghdad has appointed an Iraqi honorary consul to represent its government in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, an informed source said on Wednesday. Speaking to IraqiNews.com news agency, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Kurdistan region, Dara Jalil el-Khayyat, said that the Danish embassy had asked him to serve as an honorary council for Denmark in the region. The central government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government Kurdistan RegionG) have given their initial approval of the embassy’s request, Khayyat added. The Danish consulate will be located within the chamber’s premises in Arbil city. Several countries, including Germany and France, have recently opened consulates in the northern region. SS (P)/SR 1
