Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi meets Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi held on Tuesday a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov in Baghdad.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of boosting relations between the two countries in the fields of security, economy, trade and electricity, All Iraq News (AIN) quoted Abdul Mahdi’s media office as saying in a statement.

Bogdanov stressed Russia’s keenness on deepening relations and maintaining coordination with Iraq at all levels. He further extended an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Abdul Mahdi to visit Moscow soon.

The Iraqi premier, meanwhile, reiterated that Iraq is interested in promoting relations with Russia.

“Iraq’s foreign policy is based on maintaining good relations wit all countries,” he said, adding that his country began to restore its leading role in the region.
