Iraq’s Kurdish Legislature demands Iran to safeguard Iraqi territories
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Member of north Iraq ’s Kurdistan Coalition, Muhsen al-Saadoun, has demanded Iran to protect the sovereignty of the Iraqi territories, through stopping its bombardment of Iraqi Kurdistan’s areas and villages. Saadoun told IraqiNews.com news agency that “he considers the current visit of Iran’s 1 st Vice-President, Mohammed Reza Rahimi, for Iraq, as an opportunity for the Iraqi government to open the dossier of the Iranian bombardment of some of the villages of Kurdistan, and to demand stoppage of the bombardment, causing victims among innocent people,” demanding Tehran to “protect Iraq’s sovereignty, as such violations against its sovereignty can’t be justified.” “We respect the neighboring states and appreciate the relations, that are based nowadays on the economic and trade levels; and Iran is a neighboring state, that has an outstanding position; so, we hope that Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, being the direct official, in charge of the sovereignty of Iraqi territories, whether they are in Basra or Sulaimaniya, to discuss with Rahimi the Iranian bombardment of the Iraqi territories in Kurdistan,” he said. Iraq ’s Parliament Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify, had demanded, during his reception of the Iranian Vice-President, visiting Iraq at the head of a large delegation, to stop the Iranian bombardment of Iraqi villages and areas in Kurdistan Region, saying that the bombardment “is creating some fogging and suspicion on joint relations between the two neighboring states.” The Kurdistan villages of Mergasur, Kani-Rash, Taki-Shin of Choman township in Arbil Province , had been targets for Iranian bombardment last week, along with the bombardment of other villages in Choman, Haji-Omran and Soran townships, under justification of chasing the anti-Tehran opposition groups, that had caused departure of more than 20 villages of their home towns.
