KA calls Maliki to release detained chieftains in Diyala
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Kurdistani Alliance called “The Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to release the detained chieftains in Diyala province.”
MP, Mahma Khalil, of the KA said in a press statement that “We urge Maliki to release Diyala tribal leaders to calm down the situation and avoid escalation.”
He added “The central government has to release the tribal figures and to avoid abusing their dignity and humiliate them for they represent a historical and social prominent figures for all communities of Iraqi people.”
Khalil stressed “The importance of not using the arrests as a means of political pressures to get their loyalty,” calling on Maliki to “Make use of the holy month of Ramadan and prove his good will and honesty in achieving the reforms advocated by the Iraqi National Alliance to which he belongs.”
