Khafaji describes canceling Ration Card by Government as "Immature decision"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Abdul Mahdi al-Khafaji, of the State of Law Coalition criticized the government’s decision over canceling the Ration Card.

He stated to IraqiNews.com “This decision comes in a hurry where the Government attempted to confront the financial and administrative corruption but it committed a huge mistake by ignoring the poor stratum of the Iraqi society who could not be compensated with 15 thousand IQD that the government allocated as replacement for the materials of the Ration Card.”

“This decision is not studied well as it reflects the failure of the government in confronting the corruption,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Iraqi Council of Ministers decided to cancel the Ration Card.

The legal expert of the Prime Minister, Mohamed Fadhil, told IraqiNews.com on Tuesday that “The CoM decided to cancel the distribution of the food materials of the Ration Card starting from 1st, March, 2013.”

He added that “The resolution included distribution of IQD 15,000 for each member to replace the Ration Card.”
