Kobler: Najaf Religious Authority calls to pay consideration to poor people, human rights in Iraq

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler, stressed “The Supreme Religious Authority affirms the need to pay consideration to the poor people and human rights in Iraq.”

Kobler has arrived to Najaf on Saturday morning and met with the Supreme Religious Authority, Ali al-Sistani.

The UN envoy said in a press conference after his meeting with Sistani “I discussed with his eminence a number of social and political issues Iraq is witnessing and I do appreciate his role and his valuable advices, where he agreed with us over many views that we try to achieve such as caring about the poor people and the minorities and maintain the human rights in Iraq.”

“I’m sad because I will leave Iraq in this critical juncture where there are a lot of pending issues that I wish to resolve soon especially with the closeness of the parliament elections,” he added confirming “I urge the politicians to pay attention to the interest of the country before all other things and to get to dialogue table to settle the problems away from violence and sectarianism.”

“This visit is the last for me in Najaf as I will entrust my mission to another character to start what I has begun, ” he pointed out.

“The UN is exerting further efforts to pay consideration to the youth who constitutes 50% of the Iraqi people and they deserve to be served security and prosperity,” UN envoy concluded.
