Kremlin: Phone call between Maliki, Putin focus on implementation of armament deal
(IraqiNews.com) The Russian Parliament (Kremlin) announced that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin and the Iraqi Premier, Nouri al-Maliki stressed, during a phone call made on Wednesday, on the necessity to implement what was agreed upon during Maliki’s visit to Russia in October, 2012.
Kremlin reported that “Both sides discussed through the phone call the means to develop the bilateral cooperation, where they confirmed the need to implement the agreements conducted during Maliki’s visit to Russia.”
The Iraqi Government had concluded a number of armament deals with Russia and Czech during visits Maliki made to these countries.
However, the Government of Iraq decided to renegotiate with Moscow over the armament deal due to suspicions of corruption.
