Kurdish 5-Party Meeting Due Next Week

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Two politicians predicted that the 5-party meeting of the Kurdish parties shall be convened at the beginning of next week.  The meeting shall discuss the project submitted by the opposition parties and the governmental.  Member of the Polit-bureau of the Kurdish National party Saadi Peera told IraqiNews.com that each party will submit its project for discussion.  He pointed out that Secretary General Jalal Talabani will not participate in the meeting, but “urges political entities to become nearer and keep the unity of the Kurdish Home”.  The three Kurdish opposition parties, Change Movement, Islamic Federation and Islamic Group, submitted a project for political reform of the Kurdish government of 22 points.  They held separate talks with the governmental parties, but these negotiations were suspended  when the Beishmarga forces entered Sulaimaniya city and some adjacent areas, which ended, by force, the 63-day demonstrations that stormed the city. On the other side, opposition Change Movement spokesman Mohammed Tawfeeq told IraqiNews.com that the “meeting date is not yet decided, but expected to be next week”.  “No names for representation were given”, he added.   The Kurdish public is waiting for more than one week the expected meeting, particularly the area is passing through “political tension since 17 February last, when demonstrations erupted demanding the improvement of services, living standards, eradication of corruption and achieving wide political reforms”.  The demonstrations lasted for about two months, where violent actions occurred leading to ten killings, according to opposition sources.
