Kurdistan Parl. to debate Personal Status bill

ARBIL/ IraqiNews.com: The Council of Representatives in Iraq’s Kurdistan region is scheduled to debate the draft Personal Status law during its Monday session, a Kurdish parliamentarian said. “Some members of parliament have objected to some paragraphs of the draft law related to monogamy, equality between men and women in inheritance, and women’s right to divorce,” MP Ghafour Makhmouri told IraqiNews.com. Makhmouri, who is the head of the Democratic National Union of Kurdistan, ruled out a vote on the draft law during tomorrow’s session in light of the controversial points. SS (P)/SR 1
