Kurdistan’s parliament amends the region’s presidency law

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Speaker of Kurdistan’s parliament, Adnan al-Mufti, said that the Regional House on Wednesday passed the second bill to amend the region’s presidency law, and another act that allows Kurdistan’s provincial councils to remain in office until the end of 2009. “The amendments allow the region’s president to call for early legislative election in Kurdistan,” al-Mufti told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The president of Kurdistan is now authorized to call for conducting early legislative election in the region on May 19, 2009,” he added.
