Kurdistan’s PM soon in Baghdad to meet Turkish president
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Prime Minister of Iraq’s Kurdistan region Negervan al-Barazani will head to Baghdad to meet Turkish President Abdullah Gul, who is expected to arrive in the capital later today. “Gul’s visit agenda does not include the Kurdistan region,” a foreign relations official in the Kurdistan Regional Government Kurdistan RegionG), Falah Mostafa, told IraqiNews.com news agency. Mostafa did not reveal the timing of Barazani’s visit, but said that the meeting will tackle several issues, including border security and cultural and economic relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan region. Gul is expected to visit Iraq to hold talks on the contentious issue of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). The visit will be the first by a Turkish head of state to neighboring Iraq in 33 years.
