Lakash calls to hold local elections on time

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Mohammed al-Lakash, of the Citizen bloc called to hold the local elections on time, calling the Experts Committee within the parliament to “settle the issue of the Independent High Electoral Commission and nominate nine members for it.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) , he stated ” There are some issues that hinder holding the local elections such as the IHEC that was extended for three months period that is about to finish.”

“There is another reason behind the delay of holding the local elections which is the government that did not allocate the required funds to the IHEC in order to do its logistic issues and be ready to hold the elections,” he added.

Earlier, the Council of Ministers decided to grant the IHEC ten IQD Billions as emergency funds to start the special preparations for the local elections.
