Maliki discusses with Turkish envoy water crisis in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki Monday discussed with the special Turkish envoy to Iraq, Murad Ozcelik, the water crisis in the country and the Turkish assistance to Iraq in order to face this crisis. “The premier received at his office in Baghdad on Monday Murad Ozcelik, (May 25) the special Turkish envoy to Iraq, with whom he expressed comfort over the good relations between the two countries,” said a statement released from al-Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com ews agency. “The prime minister thanked the Turkish government for providing Iraq with extra amounts of water to help the country facing the water crisis which decreased the power production and the agricultural lands as well as the decrease in the drinking water,” the statement added. “The two officials also discussed the development of bilateral relations and the increase in cooperation in political, security and economic fields,” it said.   SH (P)/SR 1
