MP urges fact-finding commission on Abu Ghraib

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A lawmaker from Iyad Allawi’s al-Iraqiya bloc urged the parliament on Saturday to form a fact-finding commission on the situation in the district of Abu Ghraib. “I appeal to the parliament speakership to set up a commission to find facts about the area of Abu Ghraib in light of reports regarding violations and random detentions by security forces against innocent people as well as lack of basic and health services,” Talal al-Zawbaie said in a press conference in Baghdad. He said all deterrent measures must be taken against officers responsible for these “actions that contradict human rights in the new Iraq.” AmR (TP) 881
