Nijaifi, Kobler discuss possibility of Releasing Iraq from the Seventh Chapter of UN’s Charter
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq, Martin Kobler, discussed the elections of Kirkuk province and the files of Human and Woman Rights in Iraq.
A statement by Nijaifi’s office received by IraqiNews.com on Thursday cited “The two sides discussed some crucial issues such as the possibility of cooperating with the Independent High Electoral Commission to perform the elections and the other laws related to them in addition to the Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations and the means of releasing Iraq from the Seventh Chapter of the UN’s Charter.”
“Kobler stressed the importance of the organizing side of the IHEC and the necessity of granting it a vital role, calling “Nijaifi to personally interfere to settle this issue,” the statement added.
“For his part, Nijaifi expressed his interest in the Human Right file and the involvement of Woman in the committee as being a part of the Iraqi society, pointing out that the security situation in Kirkuk is dangerous due to the repeated assassination attempts that aim to create a sectarian sedition,” the statement concluded.
