Nijaifi, US Envoy discuss Syrian crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, discussed with the Special Envoy of U.S. President Barack Obama, the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on the region as well as the subject of the Central Bank of Iraq and the importance of its independence.

A statement by Nijaifi’s office, received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), stated on Monday that “Nijaifi received in his office in Baghdad the U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser Denis Mcdonna accompanied by the U.S. new Ambassador to Iraq, Robert Stephen Beecroft,” noting that “Both sides discussed during the meeting, issues of common interest which fall within the framework of the strategic partnership between Iraq and the US.”
