“No logical justifications exist towards Iraq’s reservation on Arab League Membership of Syria,” Political Analyst says

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Political Analyst, Ribin Rassoul, has expressed surprise for Iraq‘s reservation towards the suspension of Syria‘s membership in the Arab League, saying that “no logical justifications existed for such position,” adding that “new Iraq must be in the forefront of the Arab states, calling for freedom of their peoples and for the downfall of dictatorial regimes.” “We have noticed the way the Iraqi government had dealt with the Bahraini dossier and the atrocities against demonstrators in Bahrain..And it was supposed that such dealing would have been carried out by all the states of the Arab Region, calling for the downfall of dictatorships,” Rassoul told IraqiNews.com news agency, adding that “if the Iraqi government has condemned the atrocities against demonstrators in Bahrain, it should have also condemned the suppression of demonstrators in Syria.” “The policy of the current Iraqi government is under the influence of the Iranian politics, in such a way as if this government is being steered by the Iranian government,” he said, charging that “the position of Lebanon and Iraq towards the Syrian cause, is dealt with in such a way as if that they have become a tool to implement the Iranian policies in the Arab World, as it is clear that Lebanon had fallen under the influence of its Hizballah, supported by Iran.” As regards towards Iraq‘s reservation, Rassoul said: “I don’t think that there would be any setbacks, because the Iraqi policy is based on the Iranian interests in the Region, and Iraq has become a hotbed and part of the Iranian policies in the Region.” “The Arab League, stemming from its position to safeguard the unity, has decided to allow each state to deal freely with the said issue; that is why the majority of the Arab states shall play their role to withdraw their ambassadors from Damascus,” he said. Noteworthy is that the Arab League had taken a decision on Saturday to suspend  Syria‘s membership in the League, calling on its member-states to withdraw their ambassadors from Damascus, till its implementation of the Arab plan aimed at solving the Syrian issue, with 18 Arab states supporting the decision, 3 states, including Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, suspending, and Iraq‘s refusal to cast its vote. SKH (TS)/SR108
