No need to close our embassy in Yemen – Abawi
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Foreign Ministry’s deputy minister Labeed Abawi disclosed that the ministry is working to send a special plane to evacuate diplomatic families and other Iraqi citizens from Sana’a, Yemen, stressing that the embassy will not be closed. Iraq took this action after many Arab and foreign countries withdrew their citizens due to the deterioration of security there. “The ministry has continued contacts with the embassy and is following the events closely,” Abawi told IraqiNews.com. Despite there being a large Iraqi community in Yemen, there are no official statistics of their exact numbers. “As for the embassy, we do not need to close it, because its presence is important,” he added.
