Opposition Front expected to form inside Iraqi Parliament, MP says
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A Legislature, representing al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, has revealed on Sunday that an opposition front was expected to be formed inside the Iraqi Parliament, to be stemmed from what he described as “the people’s interests and needs, and not the interests of political blocs and parties.” “A number of al-Iraqiya Coalition members are striving to activate an opposition front inside the Parliament, Qusay al-Abbady, told a news conference, attended by IraqiNews.com news agency, calling on Parliament members, the Iraqi government and leaders of political blocs to “rise above sectarian, narrow-party and personal interests, but to activate the people’s legitimate demands and to end the dossier of the formation of the national-partnership government, the security ministries, as well as the dossier of the administrative corruption.” Speaking about the demonstrations that took place in several Iraqi provinces recently, Abbady said: “the demonstrations reflect the genuine national spirit, express the legitimate demands, in a peaceful and civilized means, and raise their voice, stemming from the spirit of high responsibility.” A number of Iraqi provinces have witnessed a series of demonstrations over the past few days, demanding the local governments to provide services, improve the government’s “rational card” and the electric power, as well as putting a limit for the increase of prices of basic food stuff.
