Parliament to complete questioning oil minister Wednesday
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Parliament decided on Tuesday to keep the session dedicated to question oil minister open until Wednesday, a source from the Parliament’s session said. “The Parliament decided to complete questioning Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahrestani during Wednesday’s session (Nov. 11),” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. A media source had said earlier that the Parliament started on Tuesday its session to question Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahrestani with the participation of 70 lawmakers under the chairmanship of Speaker Iyad al-Samarraie. During a press conference on Monday (Nov. 9), MP Haydar al-Jourani from the United Iraqi Alliance (UIA) said that the Council of Representatives had agreed to a request presented by al-Shahrestani to question him on Tuesday (Nov. 10) instead of Wednesday (Nov. 11), denying that the minister had gone to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage. The chairman of the parliamentary Commission on Public Integrity (CPI), Sabah al-Saedi, had called on Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to fight corruption in the Oil Ministry. SH (P)/SR 1
