Parliamentarian calls to facilitate sending aid to Gaza
Gaza-MP BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: MP from the Iraqi Islamic party Usama al-Tikriti on Tuesday urged the international organizations to take urgent measures to allow Iraqi doctors to go to Gaza, according to a statement of his party. “We seek to open a field hospital in Gaza, so we asked organizations to allow us to contribute in treating thousands of wounded Palestinians,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. The Iraqi government on Saturday (Jan. 2) condemned the Israeli army raids on the Gaza Strip, the most densely-populated area in the world, and called for an end to the military operations, avoiding endangering civilian lives, and refraining from the collective punishment policy. The Iraqi Air Force on Wednesday (Dec. 31) sent four flights to the Egyptian city of al-Arish to dispatch humanitarian and medical aid to the people of Gaza, who have been coming under Israeli attacks for days now. The Gaza Strip is under continued Israeli raids, followed by ground operations, for the second week in a row, during which more than 500 persons were killed and hundreds others were wounded.
