PJAK announces potential for ceasefire

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The anti-Tehran Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) has announced its willingness to agree to a ceasefire against Iran, in the event that Iran responds in kind, a PJAK statement noted on Monday.   “The PJAK Party will announce a ceasefire, in response to calls made by personalities and friends, who carried out a mediation between PJAK and the Iranian State,” the statement, as was received by IraqiNews.com news agency, said.   The statement pointed out that “the announcement was made, stemming from the Party’s conviction in the democratic and peaceful settlement, and in the event of Iran’s response towards this position.”   It stressed that the “ceasefire would begin at 12:00 local time on September 5, 2011, or else Iran would be responsible for future incidents,” expressing hope that “the decision would serve the interest of peace, pacification and the democratic solution.”   The border areas of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region have been witnessing Turkish and Iranian bombardment, under justification of chasing the elements of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the anti-Tehran PJAK forces, causing victims among Kurdish citizens and severe material losses, along with forcing hundreds of Kurdish families to desert their home villages.   SKH (TI)/SR 278
