POLITICS: North Iraq’s Kurdistan President wars from danger of civil war in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The President of north Iraq‘s Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, has described the political crisis passing on Iraq nowadays as “the most dangerous among other crisis that took place in Iraq since 2003, warning from a danger of the outbreak of civil war between the Shiites and Sunnis in the country, according to an interview with al-Jazeera TV Satellite Channel on Thursday. “The outbreak of the differences between the Shiites and Sunni is taking place after one day of the withdrawal of the American forces from Iraq, especially on the background of the issuance of an arrest warrant by the government of Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki against Iraq‘s Vice-President, Tareq al-Hashimy, thing that would lead the current crisis to blow up all what the United States had achieved during the past 9 years of its presence in Iraq, after its liberation,” Barzani said. He confirmed that “in the event of the continuation of the said crisis, there won’t be any other choice, but to lean to an early elections, being the only choice for the Iraqis,” stressing that “the Kurds won’t at all be part in a future civil war, that may blow out in Iraq, God Forbid.” “The United States have tried to answer questions and criticisms by the Americans about the feasibility for operations to liberate Iraq, while Obama Administration expects that the Kurdistan Leadership play the role of judge to settle this crisis, especially after the great effort, exerted by the President of Kurdistan Region nine months ago, that was followed by the formation of the current Iraqi government, following a ministerial crisis that continued for several months,” Barzani said. Noteworthy is that different parts of Baghdad had witnessed a series of explosions, using booby-trapped cars and explosive charges, along with suicide operations, that killed about 75 people and injured over 200 others, most of them civilians, at a time when the country is witnessing a strong political crisis, in the background of charges against Vice-President and the leader of al-Iraqiya Allaince, Tariq al-Hashimy, with carrying out terrorist acts and a decision by the Judiciary to arrest and investigate him about the said charges, along with a decision by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to withdraw trust from the other Iraqiya leader and Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq.
