Presidential Board confers security pact

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Presidential Board on Saturday conferred the Iraqi-U.S. proposed security pact, according to a presidential release. “President Jalal Talabani and his two vice presidents met today, and they conferred the Iraqi-U.S. proposed security pact, and the amendments suggested by both sides in this regard,” said the release that was received by IraqiNews.com. The release quoted VP Adel Abdulmahdi saying “Discussions considered Iraq’s sovereignty and independence were a top priority, in addition to selecting the best available options.” It also quoted VP Tareq al-Hashemi stating “the Presidential Board conferred the pact after the amendments submitted by the U.S. side, in response to the Iraqi cabinet’s demand, and the Board is now waiting for the premier’s final evaluation in this concern.” MH (P)/SR 1
