PUK to witness changes, reforms soon, says Ali
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The First Deputy of PUK Secretary General Kosrat Rasul Ali gave a speech during today’s plenum of Patriotic Union Kurdistan. A statement by the PUK received by IraqiNews.com “Ali wished the President Talabani a speedy recovery and returning home soon, First Deputy of PUK Secretary General, Kosrat Rasul Ali, opened his speech with an apology over the results of PUK in the recent parliamentary elections of Kurdistan Region.” “He said that the Political Bureau first and the Leadership Council the second would hold responsibility for the results, attributing them to accumulating what he called “political mistakes”,” the statement added.
“Later on, he praised the role of PUK cadres and supporters in their massive and enthusiastic participation in both the electoral campaigns and the voting day,” the statement continued.
“He also briefed the participants on the aim behind holding the plenum, saying the PUK congress would have been held in the next three weeks according to the PUK bylaws, but the sickness of PUK Secretary General, President Talabani, and the current situation of PUK did not allow PUK leadership to hold it as scheduled. He also promised the participants of making changes and launching reform within the PUK organs in a bid to combat corruption and injustice,” the statement concluded.
