Rafsanjani’s visit “unwelcome”- IIP
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Islamic Party (IIP), led by Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi, said that Iranian official Hashemi Rafsanjani’s visit to Iraq is “unwelcome,” calling on the government to address Iranian interference in Iraqi affairs, which it said had almost pushed the country into a “civil war.” “The visit made by the chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, to Iraq is unwelcome,” a statement published on the party’s official web site quoted members of its political bureau as saying. The IPP is one of the three components of the Sunni Iraqi Accord Front (IAF). On Monday (March 2) morning, Rafsanjani arrived in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on a five-day official visit. SS (P) 1
