Reconstruction, investment, energy top Iraq’s agenda in Kuwait summit
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said that reconstructing Iraq, investment and energy issues will top President Jalal Talabani’s agenda during his participation in the economic summit in Kuwait next Monday. “Iraq will take part in the coming economic, developmental and social summit in Kuwait next Monday (Jan. 19) with a high-profile delegation, including President Talabani, the deputy premier and a number of ministers,” the foreign ministry said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. Zebari arrived in Kuwait on Thursday (Jan. 15) to attend the two-day summit. “The minister held meetings upon his arrival with Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa and foreign ministers of Egypt, Yemen and Lebanon; Ahmed Abul Gheit, Abu Bakr al-Qurbi and Fawzi Saloukh and discussed with them preparations for the anticipated summit. Arab leaders are due to hold their first ever economic summit in Kuwait on January 19 and January 20 to discuss ways to boost economic integration among Arab nations. The summit will also discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip, the current global financial crisis and the present economic situation in the Arab world. SH (S) 1
