Religious Authority Hakim condemns killing Shihata in Egypt
Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The Religious Authority, Mohammed Saeed al-Hakim, condemned the attack by Takfiri extremists on the house of prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Hassan Shehata, during which the sheikh and three of his followers were killed. The incident happened on June 23 when several hundred Takfiris attacked and surrounded the house in the village of Abu Mussalam near Cairo in Giza Province. Their bodies were then dragged into the streets by the extremist assailants. Takfiri extremists claim that only their interpretation of Islam is correct and believe that all other Muslims are infidels.
In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, he said “We strongly condemn the terrorist attack against the Shiites innocents in Egypt in addition to dragging their bodies in the streets.”
“We ask the Almighty to show mercy to the martyrs and recover the injured ones where we also ask the government and judiciary in Egypt to hold their responsibility to punish the criminal who defame Islam and Muslims,” he concluded.
