Saad: Parliament not serious in settling amendment of MCs Law
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Suzan al-Saad of the Fadhila bloc assured that “The Parliament lacks seriousness in including the amendment of the Municipal Councils law draft on its agenda which in turn prevented its endorsement.”
The Amendment of the law stipulates to repay the retirement salaries of the members of the MCs after the Parliament decision to stopping them, she added.
Saad called in a statement “The Chairmanship of the Parliament to settle this topic and end the difference in attitudes of both Parliamentary Provinces and Regions Committee and Finance Committee towards this law as they delayed completing the law amendment in its final form.”
She clarified that “The law Amendment states to cover those who have four years and more of service with 40% of the retirement salaries while those who have less than four years service would be granted IQD five million for each year and the families of the martyrs and the dead retirees would be granted 80% of the pensions.”
She considered “Canceling the item No. 40 of the 2012 general budget law as unjust step since it states to stop paying the salaries of the retired members of the Municipal Councils.”
