Muqtada al-Sadr threatens to strike American interests
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Wednesday, the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr said, that the anticipated US draft resolution about dealing with the Kurds and the Sunnis as “two states” is the beginning of a public division of Iraq, calling for a decisive governmental and parliamentary response against the decision, while threatened to strike the interests of the United States in Iraq and abroad.
Sadr said in a statement released today and received by IraqiNews.com, “The US House of Representatives intends to adopt a resolution on Iraq that requires making sects independent,” noting that, “This will be the beginning of a public division in Iraq.”
He added that, “The United States has shown bad faith against our beloved Iraq,” calling for a strict governmental response against the issuance of this decision.
Al-Sadr said, “If the US issues such a resolution, we are obliged to strike US interests in Iraq and elsewhere.”
