Sadrist MP: Postponing PCs elections requires endorsing law by parliament
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Abdul Hussien Resan al-Hussieni, confirmed that “Postponing the elections of the Provincial Councils requires endorsing a law by the parliament.”
He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The dates of the PCs or the parliamentary elections are set by the constitution,” noting that “Only the parliament is considered with this issue.”
“The parliament should speed up nominating the nine members of the Commissioners Council of the Independent High Electoral Commission to avoid the delay in conducting the elections,” he concluded.
The Council of Ministers is supposed to hold an exceptional session to discuss the financial allocations for the IHEC which are about 10 billions IQD.
