Samarraie, Larijani discuss prisoners, missing, landmines
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Parliament Speaker, Iyad al-Samarraie, held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Ali Larijani, as well as heads of parliamentary blocs on captives, missing people, landmines, water issues and Mujahedi Khalq, according to a statement issued by the Parliament on Thursday. “The meeting tackled several issues, including captives, missing people during the Iraqi-Iranian war, the landmines along the borders, water issue and what is called the Mujahedi Khalq organization,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. Al-Samarraie highlighted the strong and deep-rooted relations between the two countries. Larijani said that economic and political cooperation between Iran and Iraq is expanding. “The cooperation between Iran and Iraq is expanding,” Larijani told reporters at a press conference before his departure to Baghdad. “We will consult with the Iraqi parliament speaker on economic and political cooperation,” he was quoted as saying.
