Sari calls government to treat Marshes combatants of southern Iraq with justice

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Hassan al-Sari, of the Citizen bloc called the government to treat the combatant of the Marshes of the southern provinces of Iraq with justice.

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Saturday, Sari said “We see that the government is adhering to the demonstrators’ demands of the western provinces and grants the rights to the Ba’athist , whereas it ignores the rights of the freedom fighters of the Marshes of the southern provinces who have legitimate rights.”

“On behalf of the combatants of the Marshes, we call the government to amend law (91) to include them in this law and grant them their legitimate rights where this law was endorsed in the period of the Civil Ruler of Iraq, Paul Bremer, and it included the parties participating in the political process and neglected the rights of the combatants of the Marshes,” he added.

He called “The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, the parliament and the ministerial committee formed to discuss the demonstrators’ demands, to consider their rights because they were patients due to the critical situation of Iraq.”
