Shiite leader, VP tackle political scene
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Abdelaziz al-Hakim, the leader of the Shiite Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council, discussed with Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdelmahdi recent political developments in Iraq in a meeting on Sunday, according to a release on the SIIC web site. “Hakim, who is also the leader of the Shiite United Iraqi Alliance (UIA), and Abdelmahdi also dealt with the Arab and regional openness through recent visits by officials from Arab countries in the region and the start of tours of duty by a number of Arab ambassadors in Iraq,” read the release. Iraqi President Jalal Talabani had received on Thursday the credentials of ambassadors of Bahrain, Jordan, Syria and Spain. AmR (P) 1
