Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the State of Law Coalition, Saad al-Mutalabi, confirmed that “The talks conducted between the Leader of Sadrist Trend and the Premier Nouri al-Maliki, tackled potentials of political reforms.” Mutalabi stated to IraqiNews.com “Maliki and Sadr, during the telephone talks conducted between them on Thursday, discussed the political reforms that are necessary to amend the performance of the government and to build its institutions and how to work to dismantle the current political crisis.” He clarified “There are positive signs to reach convergence in the relations between the Iraqi National Alliance and the Sadrist Trend after witnessing letdown, recently, especially after the crisis of withdrawing confidence from the Prime Minister.” There were conflicting reports about the nature of those telephone talks where the MP Kamal al-Saedi described them as “fruitful”. The Head of the Parliamentary Ahrar Bloc within the Sadrist Trend Bahaa al-Araji, denied the claims that the last phone call conducted between the Premier Maliki and Leader of Sadrist Trend, Moqtada al-Sadr, discussed political sides. The relations between Maliki and Moqtada al-Sadr witnessed significant tensions especially after the latter’s participation in the meetings of Arbil and Najaf in which h called the Iraqi National Alliance to replace Maliki, otherwise, they will resort to withdraw confidence from him. Sadr also invited Maliki to step down his post.
