Some seek deposition of Iraq’s political regime – preacher
NAJAF / IraqiNews.com: A senior cleric on Tuesday said that there are some parties who seek the “deposition” of the new political regime in Iraq and bring the country back to “injustice and inequality”. “Those parties are trying to get Iraq ruled by unjust people and resurrect sectarianism. We have had elections and we’ll have them in the future and everyone – the majority and minority – will enjoy their rights,” Sayyed Sadreddin al-Qabanji said during a sermon of Eidul-Adha in the holy Shiite city of Najaf on Tuesday. Today marks the first day of the Eidul-Adha festivity for Shiite Muslims in Iraq. Qabanji did not name those “parties”. Addressing hundreds of worshippers, Qabanji said “we want an Islamic Iraq of the masses where all ethnicities and everyone in the country enjoy their rights”. “After hundreds of years of injustice that befell the Iraqi people, the Iraqis today are inhaling the air of freedom,” he added.
