Syrian Opposition Delegation rejects armed solution

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Syrian Opposition delegation which is currently visiting Iraq met the Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zibari on Friday.

The delegation stressed during the meeting “The importance of a political solution to the Syrian crisis and its rejection to the military escalation in Syria.”

A statement by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry stated that “Zibari received a delegation of the Syrian opposition, which represents a number of its spectrum, and discussed with them the importance of communication with Iraq,” emphasizing “Iraq’s firm stance towards supporting the Syrian people and their aspirations for freedom, democracy, preserve the unity and independence of Syria away from external interferences.”

The statement added that the delegation made an extensive presentation for the internal situation and the great difficulties experienced by groups of the Syrian people because of the continuing violence and the daily killing and destruction of the infrastructure and sabotage that targets buildings and institutions, as well as the growing number of dead, wounded and displaced persons and migrants to neighboring countries and the human tragedy experienced by the people.

The opposition delegation called upon all friendly countries for the Syrian people to provide necessary humanitarian and emergency relief assistance to them.

The members of the delegation also stressed the importance of a political solution to the crisis and the Syrian refusal to military escalation and warned of fears being drawn into the roar of internal war which will be devastating for Syria and all countries in the region, especially the neighboring countries of Syria.
