Syria’s Assad congratulates Talabani over Eidul-Fitr

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Vice President Farouq al-Sharaa sent congratulatory cables to Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on the occasion of Eidul-Fitr, a three-day festivity that caps the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, according to an Iraqi presidential release on Sunday. “The Syrian president, in the name of the Syrian Arab people, has expressed warmest wishes for President Talabani and the brotherly Iraqi people,” read the release as received by Iraqi News. Syrian Vice President Sharaa also sent President Talabani a congratulatory cable “wishing the Iraqi people progress and welfare and the Arab and Muslim nation blessings and prosperity”. AmR (P) 1
