Talabani, Hakim discuss outcome of Kuwait summit
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani discussed with Shiite leader Abdelaziz al-Hakim on Friday the outcome of the Arab economic summit held recently in Kuwait, according to a presidential statement. “Talabani briefed Hakim on the activities of the Iraqi delegation in the summit and the Iraqi president’s meetings with leaders of countries that participated in the two-day event and exchanged views on means to strengthen Iraq’s ties with those countries,” read the statement as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. Hakim is the leader of the Shiite Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC). “Talabani also referred to the positive outcome of bilateral talks between Iraq and Kuwait,” it added. The meeting was attended by SIIC deputy leader Ammar al-Hakim and the Iraqi president’s office director Nizar Muhammad Saed. Iraq has attended the Arab socio-economic summit hosted by neighboring Kuwait on January 19-20. AmR (P) 1
