Talabani: “New govt.’s successes, to be success of everybody.”
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s President Jalal Talabani has said on Thursday that the successes achieved by the new Iraqi government would be success for everybody, in a speech during his official assignment of Nouri al-Maliki to form the new government. “I announce today, according to Article 75 of the Constitution, I assign him (Maliki), being the candidate of the largest parliamentary bloc, to form a government of national-unity that will not deprive anybody from sharing in it, a government that will be able to confront the current challenges,” Talabani said. He continued that the “successes achieved by the government shall be successes for all.” The measures of the assignment was attended by the Parliament Speaker, Usama al-Nujeifi, the Chairman of the Federal Court, Mid’hat Mahmoud, whilst Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki sat beside President Talabani. The occasion was also attended by a large number of Iraqi political leaders and parliament members, among them the Leader in the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Adel Abdul-Mahdi and the Leader of the al-Iraqiya bloc, Tareq al-Hashimi. Hassan al-Sunaid, representing the State of Law Alliance, told reporters that “the President had officially assigned the candidate of the National Alliance, Nouri al-Maliki, to form the new government, with the presence of several political leaders and representatives. Article 75 of the Constitution points out that the President, “is to assign the candidate of the largest parliamentary bloc, to form the council of ministers, within 15 days of the election of the President of the Republic, whilst the President would assign the prime minister to name members of his cabinet, within 30 days of his assignment.
