Thousands demonstrates in Babel in anniversary of International Quds Day

Babel (IraqiNews.com) Thousands of the citizens of Babel province have demonstrated on Friday in the anniversary of the International Quds Day.

The reporter of Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Friday stated “Thousands of the demonstrators, headed by some representatives of the Religious Authorities, tribal figures, students and the leaders of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council in Babel province, have moved from Rad al-Shams mosque.”

Quds Day, officially known as International Quds Day is an annual event that began in Iran in 1979, that is commemorated on the last Friday of Ramadan, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposing Zionism as well as Israel’s control of Jerusalem; Quds is that city’s Arabic name.

Quds Day rallies were first introduced in Iran by the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979, and the day’s parades are sponsored and organized annually by the Iranian government there.

Quds Day is also commemorated in several countries in the Arab and Muslim world with protests against the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem.
