Turkoman Islamic Union: Bring Christians’ killers to justice

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Islamic Union of Iraqi Turkoman has condemned the attacks that targeted Christians in Kirkuk province, calling on security authorities to bring those responsible to justice. In a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency, the union has utterly condemned the “terrorist attacks” that occurred in Kirkuk province and called on the security apparatus to hunt own the killers. The statement described the protection of Christians as a “national duty.” The Islamic Union of Iraqi Turkoman (or Turkoman Islamic Union) is a political party in Iraq led by Abbas al-Bayati. It was formed in 1991 and participated in discussions with other exile groups before the invasion of Iraq. It is mostly made up of Shiite Iraqi Turkmen. On Sunday (April 26), one Christian civilian was killed and two others were wounded in an attack on their house in southwestern Kirkuk. Meanwhile, a woman was killed and another was wounded in a similar attack on their house in southern Kirkuk. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of Baghdad. SS (S) 1
